The Age Domain runs cover story on residential mandatory disclosure
During the last weekend Domain.com.au published a cover story discussing the implications of mandatory disclosure of energy efficiency ratings for homes, which is planned for introduction in May 2011. The link to the story is:

Energy Makeover’s managing director Bryn Dellar was interviewed by the author to provide information and his opinion on residential mandatory disclosure. Bryn has been keeping a close eye on developments on this scheme, proposing that this legislation must act in the benefit of the community by following three principles:
1. It must be an accurate and credible measurement of the house’s carbon emissions.
2. The ratings must be comparable between new and existing houses.
3. Ratings should be delivered at a reasonable cost (under $300).
EnergyMakeovers’ solution is our EnergyStart report, which gives a energy star rating for existing houses.
With new homes and major renovations required to meet the 6 star (out of 10) minimum standard from 2011, interest in home energy star ratings, which allows you to compare your home’s performance with others, is steadily increasing.
