For Renovations
The Opportunity
Renovation is a great opportunity to make your home more sustainable and more comfortable. It is an opportunity to improve your home so you can reap the benefits for decades to come. The most cost effective home improvement project for you depends on your priorities, your energy consumption pattern and how your home is constructed.
-
The Pain Points
However, currently there is an overwhelming amount of home improvement products and services available that many people are confused on what would be most effective for their own home and lifestyle. Various installers offer different quotes and it is difficult to judge who is reliable and who would deliver the best value.
-
Our Solution
That is where we can help. Our Energy Makeovers Roadmap involves a comprehensive assessment of your home and energy usage by our team of specialist home assessors, who will then recommend the most cost-effective projects for you based on your priorities and ranked by financial payback on your investment. You will be able to see at a glance how each recommended project will affect your comfort, hip pocket and the planet.
In addition, you will also receive a nationally-certified Home Energy Rating so you can compare your home’s performance to new houses (built to a minimum 5-star standard, out of a maximum 10 stars).
-
Your Future
Home renovation is a major investment of time and money. Getting it right when you have the opportunity is crucial if you want to make the most of your renovation. With new homes being built to 5-star standards (increasing to 6-stars from 2011) and mandatory disclosure of home energy efficiency being introduced by 2012, as well as more frequent extreme weather expected, future-proofing your home has never been more important. And you can do your bit towards a sustainable future.

Case Study
One of our customers renovating his large Balwyn home became agitated when he found that his tradesmen had already ordered single-glazed windows for the entire house, when our Roadmap report recommended that he could install double glazed-windows and raise his energy star rating. Even though double glazing would be very expensive, he commented that if he was aware of this option before the renovation he would have done it without a second thought. He would have achieved a better star rating and lower heating / cooling bills for many decades, but was now ’stuck’ with inferior windows. His story highlights the importance of knowing the best available options prior to doing a renovation.
