Mono and Poly solar panels are both made from crystalline silicon and by far the most popular choice for residential solar installations are mono as it is both the oldest and therefore most developed option. But here are the facts to compare the two:

MonoPoly
AppearanceSilicon is formed into bars and cut into their shape. They have an even colouring and uniform look. Producing them does create a lot of unused product and waste.Raw silicon is melted into moulds and cut into wafers. It creates a speckled blue, grainy colour. This type of production reduces waste.

Mono is more efficient and requires less roof space but poly is easier to manufacture and therefore costs less to purchase.

If you’re still not sure which panels would be right for you, or if it even matters for the average Australian home (that typically installs a 5kW system) we can help!
