It’s the new year and instead of committing to one of the most popular new years resolutions:
- Lose weight
- Exercise more
- Eat more healthy
- Learn a new skill
- Be kinder
Why not also set yourself one of these:
- Improve my home’s energy efficiency
- Decrease my home energy bills
- Save money
- Do something good for the environment
- Spread the word and encourage my friends and family to do the same
The great news is that you can actually do all 5 of these resolutions by making just one change in your home.
By making energy efficiency upgrades in your home you can decrease your energy consumption, improve the comfort in your home, decrease your bills and reduce your CO2 emissions in the process. Even better, in some states in Australia you can receive subsidies or rebates for these energy efficiency upgrades.
Something has simple as upgrading your lights can have a huge impact
Lighting in the average home can account for as much as 10% of your home energy bill. If you have outdated lighting at home, like halogen downlights or incandescent bulbs, you might as well open your windows and start throwing cash out!
So perhaps you could make 2018 the year you make a significant and positive change to your home and yourself; whether with double glazing, improved ceiling insulation or a subsidised LED upgrade.
